I’m sure this isn’t the kind of unity Dr. King spoke of back when he told us all he had a dream. Because the nightmare that is Surviving R. Kelly continues to wreak havoc on our minds weeks after it aired. And in the aftermath, many celebrities eventually cancelled R. Kelly but not everyone feels as skeeved out as most people do. Erykah Badu is one of those folks. And recently at a concert in Uncle Pissy’s hometown of Chicago she let the crowd know how she felt. It did not go well.
According to The Independent, on Saturday night at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Badu stepped onstage and revealed her feelings about the documentary, which if you’ve watched, you can no longer listen to the lyrics of Seems Like You’re Ready and still feel good about yourself anymore. Honestly, you can’t listen to any of his music now without needing a damn bleach bath, but that’s a different conversation for later. Instead of vilifying him as the monstrous predator that he is, she chose to take the high road and ask for healing and understanding.

Nah Sis, that love and light shit don’t apply in this situation. And what makes it even worse is that Badu was one of the artists that Surviving producer dream hampton approached to be a part of the documentary. However, Badu threw up the peace sign and said she’d see her next lifetime by declining the offer.
Earlier this month, the documentary’s producer revealed that Badu was one of many artists who turned down the opportunity to appear. While many of Kelly’s former (sic) collaboraters have since denounced the singer over his alleged (sic) behvaiour, Badu has hinted that she still “loves” the singer despite the allegations featured in the documentary.
There have been rumors that R. Kelly was planning on collecting his child brides and relocating them to some place in Africa. He needs to reserve a window seat for Badu as well, because Twitter has reacted and her cancellation is about two episodes away.
Erykah Badu is proof that if u dress artsy & talk about “vibrations” people will think you’re deep, no matter what stupid crap comes out your mouth lol

Erykah Badu is the same woman who said young girls are responsible for how grown men look and behave towards them, that girls should “lower their skirts”… is anyone really shocked she has a “both sides,” love him regardless view on the topic of R Kelly and his nasty ways? Smh

I’m going to chalk up her comments to probably smoking a brick of hash before she hit the stage, but Badu has always been controversial. Even in this instance reactions to what she said has been mixed. Then again, reaction from this whole situation has been ranging from support of the victims to support of R. Kelly. Sensing a need for clarification, Badu lit some incense, probably took a hit out of a bong made from an apple (those shits are delicious, don’t hate) and took to Twitter to say it again for the people in the back who ain’t hear her the first time.
I love you. Unconditionally.
That doesn’t mean I support your poor choices.
I want healing for you and anyone you have hurt as a result of you being hurt. Is that strange to you ?
That’s all I’ve ever said. Anything else has been fabricated or taken out of context. – eb

I’m hoping this is all a dream and later today Badu will hit up her social media and say something like “My bad y’all. A bitch been high since last Monday.” But I know that’s not gonna happen. Plus she’d be lying if she said that anyway, because she’s actually been high since 1996.
